ROTARIANS HELPING IN JOPLIN

Thank you to everyone that was able to help in Joplin with disaster clean up. There were over 110 volunteers from at least 16 Rotary Clubs. What a great turnout!

Saturday, August 13th, is the next scheduled workday and volunteers will be helping with the school. The tornado destroyed five schools, four in the Joplin public system and one private Catholic school. The schools need a tremendous amount of help before the start of classes on August 15th. It is estimated that 52% of all Joplin school children were displaced because of the tornado. Hopefully Rotarians can help them feel at home in their "new" schools. To participate, email Joplin Rotary Tornado Volunteer Projects chair, Valerie Searcy, by August 10th at vsearcy@unitedwayswmosek.org so they can get a head count for lunch.
